There is a lot of interesting events in the rural area of YunlinCounty, Taiwan. The huge sponge Cucumbershang on the sheds, farms and pavilions construct an outstanding harmonious landscape. To be a resort in such a special countryside, we tried to make a dialog with this fascinating landscape.
The project aims to build a resort locates on the HuaShanHilltop in Yunlin County. In the project, we took the buildings、frames、streams、rocks and various trees all as a part of the site and took people into consideration as well. These various objects and future activities, in our planning, will create multiple interactions and dialogs. It’s going to be just like rural farming activities.
The main building is framework architecture. It looks like a canopy in the landscape. The irregular framework is distinct from the urban-style architectures. It looks more organic and friendlier to a rural environment. The design blurs the boundary between nature and architecture/outdoor and interior. For this design thinking, we also designed some special framing lights decorates the ceiling. These lights look just like chrysalises hanging on the tree.In this case,we attempt to make the architectural design, structural design and interior designall the same thing and serve one design concept.
The secondary architecture constructed by an irregular folding structure. The folding structure lift and down space on the roof. The lights goes in and reflect on these spaces in a interesting way, and it creates a dramatic interior living space. The folding roof planted with grass outside,it looks harmonious with the landscape here and connects with line hillside line.
These main buildings are made of exposed concrete, the material here will response of the climate directly. It will covered with moss, rain stains, soil, ect. Then the architecture will become a part of the nature.
